CROSBY AND GARNER TO HANDLE FIRST-TEAM AFFAIRS AT GILLINGHAM

11 December 2015

GARY Crosby and Andy Garner will be looking after Burton Albion as the League One leaders travel to Gillingham.

Manager Nigel Clough will be leaving the team in the capable hands of his long-serving backroom staff while fulfilling a contractual duty.

Clough returned to Burton Albion at short notice to ensure a smooth transition after Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink moved to QPR but was unable to break a commitment made prior to his appointment that will keep him from attending the Gillingham fixture.

Burton Albion chairman Ben Robinson said: “I was aware of Nigel Clough’s commitments this weekend when we made the appointment but we wanted to get Nigel in as soon as possible so he could take training and keep the team moving forward.

“Nigel has worked with Gary and Andy in his first spell at Burton Albion and at Derby County and Sheffield United and they know how Nigel likes to work and will be fully briefed by the manager.

“Nigel will be back on the training ground next week with the team and fully focussed on Burton Albion.”
