BURTON Albion supporters helped raise more than £800 to help war veterans this Christmas.
SSAFA is the oldest forces charity and was founded in 1885. It offers practical, financial and emotional support to anyone who is currently serving, or who has served, and their dependent families.
Burton-based volunteers held a bucket collection at the Doncaster game and were delighted with the response.
A spokesperson for SSAFA said: “A massive thank you to the staff and supporters at Burton Albion FC. We raised £801.05, which far exceeded expectations and is by far our best ever collection.”
Last year SSAFA delivered more than 30 food boxes to local families in need at Christmas.
