O'CONNOR SAID "IT WAS A GREAT VICTORY" AGAINST GILLINGHAM

12 December 2015

ANTHONY O’Connor scored his first Burton Albion goal as the Brewers triumphed in a 3-0 victory over Gillingham at Priestfield.

He said “Coming away to Gillingham who are a team challenging at the top of the table, it was a great victory.

“The sending off changed the game and we got on top after that but you still have to go on and win the game.

“It was really nice but I felt a bit unlucky to not get in the side but he pulled me aside and told me I was very unlucky and to keep my head because I’ll be coming on.”

Squad depth is something the Brewers have managed to accumulate this season which is one of the reasons Anthony O’Connor didn’t make the starting 11 this afternoon.

“We have got good players all over the squad so we’re always going to be challenging with each other.” Said O’Connor.

“You don’t get success without players that want to be on the pitch.”
