Brewers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has had a January clear out, shipping out Bell, Sharps, Knowles and MacDonald so far.

John Mousinho tells us that the dressing room has changed since the four boys have left.

“The dressing room has changed since the recent departures.

“I think in one sense we have lost experience in Belly and Sharpsy but you look at the other players that we have brought in and we have now all of a sudden got a wealth of experience from a foreign country which brings a whole new dimension to our game.”

It is not all doom and gloom though. There is still a lot of experience in the camp, including Mousinho’s best friend Scott Shearer.

“We have also got Scott Shearer who has come in and I think he has got five promotions in his career so we have got plenty of experience in and around the dressing room already and it think the manager is wise enough not to leave massive holes that we can’t fill.

“There is now a great opportunity for the young lads to step up, whether you’re 16,17 or 18 or you’re 34 or 35 you have to show character to get promotions and win leagues.

“I think this now is a great opportunity for anybody that wants to step up.”

Hasselbaink has brought in three four foreign players this January, including the young Derby winger Ivan Calero. When asked what the language barrier is like, he told us

“We have been encouraged to speak English so the foreign lads can learn quickly but I might take up some lessons in the summer from Ivan and maybe the Dutch boys as well.

“These lads bring a different dimension to the game.”
