ORGANISATION IS THE KEY SAYS CANSDELL-SHERRIFF

17 February 2015

The win on Saturday over Oxford United was the Brewers’ 12th home win of the season.

The Pirelli has become somewhat of a fortress since Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink took charge back in November. Hasselbaink hasn’t lost at home and has dropped only two points in the 0-0 draw to AFC Wimbledon. Organisation is the key says 32-year-old Shane Cansdell-Sherriff.

“Organisation. We make this our home and we make it hard for people to come here and hard to break us down.

“Particularly at the moment we are very well organised and very well disciplined.

“As time goes on, it makes it harder for teams to come because they know we still haven’t been beaten.”

An early goal for the Brewers against Oxford United ensured that there was to be no repeat of the goalless stalemate against Wimbledon but it was only when Lucas Akins fired home the second goal, a minute from the end of normal time, that the Brewers could relax a little safe in the knowledge that another Sky Bet League 2 victory was in the bag.

“I think in any game really it is important to get that early goal because you can settle into the game a little bit quicker.

“It was a big game today, an important one so that goal (Adam McGurk’s) was crucial.

“I had some joy at the back for the goal to go in so the pressure is off a little bit.

“I didn’t have too much to deal with it but they still had the odd counter attack so to score right near the end was vital and great for Lucas to get back on the scoresheet.”

The confidence and team spirit has been clear to see from the Brewers boys in recent times. When Scott Shearer licked Shanes ear in his post-match interview, the Aussie replied by saying

“The team spirit is great.

“At the same time, we are working hard to get the confidence and the Gaffer keeps us grounded which is very important.

“There is nobody in the dressing room walking around thinking that the job is done.

“We work hard every day on the training ground to get the points on at the weekend and we will continue that way.”
