SHANE CANSDELL-SHERRIFF | "IT WAS A GREAT FEELING"

16 February 2015

Shane Cansdell-Sherriff says it was good to be back.

Shane Cansdell-Sherriff made his first appearance for the Brewers since Boxing Day against Tranmere Rovers where he netted his second goal of the season in a 2-0 victory. Shane had been suffering with a calf injury which kept him out the side, and for the solid performances of George Taft and Captain John Mousinho. He described his return and a great feeling.

“It was a great feeling, good to be back, it has been a little while now.” He told Brewers Player.

“I have been working hard in training to get back in the team and I have been rewarded today but more importantly we got the three points today and a clean sheet.”

Shane has missed seven games due to the calf injury and has been left frustrated due to the length he has been out with the injury. He told us he was out for longer than he expected and that he came back a little bit too early before.

“Yes it’s frustrating because in the end, I was out for a little longer than I expected to be.

“I came back a little bit too early and I stretched myself which set me back a little bit but at the same time the team are doing really well. I took my chance tonight and we got a good result as a team.”

The Brewers defence has been solid this season, conceding only 4 goals in the New Year with three of those coming away from the Pirelli. The Aussie centre back says the solid defence is a sign of a good team.

“It is a sign of a good team. It isn’t just the back four or the centre halves, it is everyone.”

“You can see it from the front. We set up to defend well from the start so credit to the team.”
