STUART BEAVON - "I HIT IT ON THE TURN AND LUCKILY IT WENT IN"

9 February 2015

Stuart Beavon scored his fith of the season

Burton Albion are back on top of League 2 after a first away win since November saw Cheltenham Town put to the sword by clinical finishes from Stuart Beavon, Adam McGurk and Phil Edwards. 3-0 up inside 50 minutes Albion briefly let the Robins back into the game via debutant Wes Burns' smart finish but Paul Buckle's new look Town side were no match for the Brewers. Stuart Beavon said “Yeah, it’s nice, obviously we want to be up there and to come to a tough place and get the points is nice.”

The match was at one point in doubt of going ahead when pitch inspections at 9.30, 11.00 and 11.30 were not satisfactory. It wasn't until 1.30 that the referee said the game is to go ahead. Most of the Brewers fans were late arrivers at Whaddon Road due to the late decision for the match to go ahead. Bev and the team didn’t let the tricky surface get in their way.
“We started off well, which we wanted and then we built on it. It was nice to get the 3-0 lead but we sat back and they got one, which was a bit of a wakeup call.”

Fans might want to see strikers score more goals, as this is the case with most other clubs but Stuart Beavon’s 21st minute strike was his 5th of the season. It was a quiet opening 1 minutes at Whaddon Road until  “It hit me and it sat up nicely so it hit it on the turn and luckily it went in.”
