HASSELBAINK NETS SHEARER ON LOAN

2 January 2015

Crewe keeper joins to the end of the season

Burton Albion manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has completed his first signing of the January transfer window by agreeing a deal to bring in 33 year old goalkeeper Scott Shearer from Sky Bet League 1 side Crewe Alexandra on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Shearer joins the club as competition for regular goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin with Dean Lyness still recovering from his broken leg and Norwich City keeper Remi Matthews returning to Carrow Road at the end of his temporary spell with the Brewers.

The Glasgow born stopper has amassed over 300 senior appearances having started out with Albion Rovers in Scotland before moving south of the Border to join Coventry City in 2003.
Scott has plenty of experience of both League 1 and League 2 having also played for Rushden & Diamonds, Bristol Rovers, Shrewsbury Town, Wycombe Wanderers, Wrexham, Crawley Town and Rotherham United, for whom he won back to back promotions, before joining Crewe last summer.

Scott will be available for the game against his former side Shrewsbury Town and will wear squad number 33 during his time with the club.
