BURTON ALBION 1-2 LEICESTER CITY

28 July 2015

A dominant display from Premier League opposition was enough to see Leicester City pick up the victory.

A rather quiet first half was soon followed up by an action packed second half, mainly dominated by the opposition.

The action started early as Trialist C nearly opened the scoring after some great work by Trialist B down the left hand side but his shot just crept past the far post from 18 yards.

The Brewers suffered an early scare also, this time on 12 minutes as Kramaric was played through on goal, he tried the chip over McLaughlin who was well beaten but the crossbar wasn't. Goal kick to the Brewers.

The best chance of the half fell to the Brewers on 25 minutes as first Calum Butcher's shot is well saved before Trialists C's shot wasn't met by a Burton Albion player..If it had, there would have been a certain goal.

The Albion nearly found themselves a goal down just before half time as King tried his luck from 25 yards which struck the inside of the post before Hammond picked up a cross on the edge of the box but his shot was held by McLaughlin.

Half time: Burton Albion 0-0 Leicester City

No changes at half time for the Brewers and surprisingly the Premier League opposition stayed unchanged too.

Leicester City should certainly have been ahead early in the second half. Barry was running through on goal with Butcher chasing but the England international was wasteful with his efforts as he curled it over the bar.

The crossbar was rattled for the second time of the game as Butcher tried his luck from  at least 40 yards which looped well over Schmeichel but the crossbar was his saviour.

Trialist C's time was up on 64 minutes as he was replaced by Lucas Akins.

GOAL: Leicester City took the lead on 65 minutes through Jamie Vardy. Trialist A was caught on the ball which Vardy soon picked up, he ran through on goal and Cooley slotted past Jon McLaughlin.

Dean Lyness made his return to the Pirelli Stadium on 69 minutes as he replaced Jon McLaughlin. Akins was also given 20 minutes as he replaced Trialist B.

GOAL: It wasn't a good start for the Birmingham-born goalkeeper as no sooner has he arrived on the pitch, he had to pick the ball out of the net. Albrighton's cross was met by the head of Vardy which looped over the arms of Lyness.

Naylor was next to enter the field of play as he replaced what looked like an injured Calum Butcher.

GOAL: Right on the 90, substitue Mark Duffy popped up with a superb goal to pull one back for the Brewers. He turned on the edge of the box and curled one into the far corner, out of the reach of the 'keeper.

Brewers XI: McLaughlin, Cansdell-Sherriff, Taft, Trialist A, Reilly, Butcher, Trialist B, Thiele, Palmer, Trialist C, Maynard.

Leicester City XI: Schmeichel, Wasilewski, Huth, Chilwell, Albrighton, King, Hammond, Fuchs, Okazaki, Kramarić, Vardy.

Albion MOM: Calum Butcher.
