HASSELBAINK PLEASED WITH HIS SIDE DESPITE DEFEAT

29 July 2015

For the first time this pre-season, Premier League opposition visited the Pirelli Stadium to face the Brewers.

Leicester City proved to be tough, if not the toughest opponents of the pre-season campaign so far.

Despite only losing by a single goal, Hasselbaink believes his side can do a bit better but insists it was a great workout for his players which pre-season is all about.

“It was a very good workout. I was very happy with the first half.” Hasselbaink said.

“I think we could have done a little bit better in the second half with how we pressed.

“After the 2-0 it was difficult to just stay with the shape and do the right thing.

“It was a good workout and a learning curve for them.”

The opposition fielded a very strong side with experienced head Robert Huth wearing the captains arm band. Kramaric, Vardy and Albrighton were also on show at the Pirelli Stadium as Ranieri looked to pick up the victory.

Hasselbaink said “They were a Premier League side, lets not forget that.”

“First half we did ever so well and we were a little bit lucky that we scored the goal.

“They had some chances but at the end of the day, it was a very good exercise for us.”
