A solid performance against a higher opposition was just what Hasselbainks men needed after last weeks defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Both teams fielded strong sides with Birmingham starting former Brewer Jaquces Maghoma.
Hassle ain't insists that improved fitness was what helped his side ease to victory against the West Midlands side.
"We didn't train today and that was the difference compared to last week."
"We are further into pre season now so we are fitter and we are still going to get fitter."
Pre-season is all about fitness as Hasselbaink has said in previous interviews and this match was no different. The Dutchman admits that Birmingham were a good side but he was pleased that his men coped under pressure.
"I must say it was a really good exercise for us against a good team that put you under pressure."
"Can we play under pressure? What do we do under pressure? They were a good team and you can see that."
