HASSELBAINK TO USE NEW BOY O'CONNOR AS A UTILITY MAN

21 July 2015

BURTON Albion have signed Plymouth defender Anthony O’Connor on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old is no stranger to Brewers fans after notching up more than 50 games for Albion in the 2012/13 season while on loan from Blackburn Rovers.

O’Connor was only 19 when he first arrived at the Pirelli Stadium, initially on a month’s loan. He came as a central defender but made the right back position his own with his loan deal extended twice.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said “Anthony O’Connor played 30 minutes against Wolves. He can play several positions and he will be used as a utility player.

“His main position is centre half and that is where he wants to play but he can also play defensive midfield so he will be a very handy signing.”

“The centre half position is a very important position so we need to keep those areas fresh and you can’t have enough of them.”
