O'CONNOR IS HOPING TO BE A 'BIG PART OF IT'

21 July 2015

Anthony O’Connor, earlier this month, joined Burton Albion on a two-year deal from Plymouth Argyle.

The 22-year-old is no stranger to Brewers fans after notching up more than 50 games for Albion in the 2012/13 season while on loan from Blackburn Rovers.

Upon his return, O’Connor is happy to be back and he can’t wait to get started.

“It feels great to be back.”

“Obviously this is the place where I spent my first season in the Football League.

“It was under a different manager then but I am really excited about working under the new gaffer here.”

Anthony O’Connor played against the Brewers for Plymouth last season at the Pirelli Stadium which ended in a 1-1 draw whilst Mike Whitlow was in interim charge.

O’Connor said “When I played against Burton last season for Plymouth, I could really see how much the club had come on.”

“You know the club has moved up the league which I was trying to do with the club when I was here a couple of years ago which I didn’t achieve, we come close.

“Thankfully we are a league above now and I can’t wait to get started.”

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been one of the main reasons most players have been attracted to the club since his arrival at the Pirelli Stadium and it was no different for the new man O’Connor.
“He is massive in the game.

“All you have to do is look at his playing career.

“He has played for some massive clubs and with his first job in England he got the club promoted.

“The club is going places and you can definitely see that.

“I am just hoping I can come here now and be a big part of it.”
