TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE FOR INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT AT ST GEORGES PARK

5 June 2015

Don't miss your chance to be part of the first international tournament to be hosted at St George's Park

The home of England's 24 national teams. Tickets start at £5/£2.50 concessions

Tickets are now on general sale for the IFCPF (International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football) World Championships which is taking place at St George's Park, between June 16-28, 2015.

Host nation England will be joined by the 15 other leading teams from around the world to compete for the title of World Champions. And for teams, the tournament comes with the added incentive as the main qualifier for the Rio Paralympic Games 2016.

Following a lunchtime opening ceremony, England gets the tournament underway with a Group A game against Japan at 1.00pm. The Three Lions follow this up with clashes against two of the top-three ranked sides in the world in the guise of Iran (June 18 – KO 7pm) and Ukraine (June 20, 5pm).

Julie Harrington, Managing Director of St George's Park said: “We’ve been really delighted with the popularity of St. George’s Park across the whole football community and The Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships is another massive feather in the cap for us. It’s a tournament with a huge global reach, offering places for the Paralympic Games in Rio next year, and we are really privileged that St George's Park will be hosting such a prestigious event.

“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to go out and put together a fantastic volunteers programme which has truly engaged the local community and I really hope that football fans up and down the country get behind this fantastic sport – it’s a great opportunity to soak up what will be a fantastic atmosphere this summer, and people can really play their part in getting behind the England team.”

A total of 48 matches will take place over the 12 day tournament with a group stage and knock out phase to determine the winner. But with places at the Rio Paralympic Games at stake, all teams will be competing until the tournament concludes in the scrap for positional placing to make it to Brazil.

Tournament Director Jeff Davis said: “Everyone involved in getting this tournament off the ground has worked tirelessly and excitement is definitely growing with the tournament just six weeks away. The 2012 Paralympic Games put the quality of elite disability sport in everyone’s consciousness. I can promise everyone that comes to the Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships that they are in for a treat.”

The CP Football World Championships is the first time St. George's Park will host an international football tournament with a number of games taking place on site. Following on from the World Championships, the facility will play host to the 2018 UEFA Under 17 Championships. Last summer the venue also saw the likes of international giants FC Barcelona and FC Porto among a number of teams to use the 330-acres of Staffordshire site for their pre-season training base.
