It’s a tournament with a huge global reach, offering places for the Paralympic Games in Rio next year, and we are really privileged that St George's Park will be hosting such a prestigious event.
“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to go out and put together a fantastic volunteers programme which has truly engaged the local community and I really hope that football fans up and down the country get behind this fantastic sport – it’s a great opportunity to soak up what will be a fantastic atmosphere this summer, and people can really play their part in getting behind the England team.”
A total of 48 matches will take place over the 12 day tournament with a group stage and knock out phase to determine the winner. But with places at the Rio Paralympic Games at stake, all teams will be competing until the tournament concludes in the scrap for positional placing to make it to Brazil.
Tournament Director Jeff Davis said: “Everyone involved in getting this tournament off the ground has worked tirelessly and excitement is definitely growing with the tournament just six weeks away. I can promise everyone that comes to the Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships that they are in for a treat.”
