After results in Sky Bet League 2 didn’t go the way the Brewers had hoped on Tuesday night, Shrewsbury overtook the Albion at the top of the table on goal difference.

Burton Albion have been very lucky recently with other results. It has panned out well. Whenever the Brewers have lost, other teams around the top of the table have also dropped points meaning Albion kept their top spot, but it didn’t fall like that the other night.

Lucas Akins explains how lucky his side have been recently.

“It is vital that we get a result because like I said before we have been quite fortunate in other results going our way to keep us up there.”

If the Brewers want to get automatic promotion this season, like most of the players are hoping, Akins insists that they have got to capitalise on missed opportunities.

Akins also told that the lads “aren’t silly” and they realise that opportunities won’t keep coming their way.

“We’re not silly.

“We realise that opportunities like this won’t keep falling on our lap.

“We have just got to capitalise on it now.”
