Have you ever wondered how a goalkeeper does it?
Especially twice in a week. Jon McLaughlin told us that you can do research on the penalty takes, but he goes with his gut feeling.âYou try to do a little bit of research.
âYou know they usually have a regular penalty taker who has an idea but for me personally it is just a feeling on the day, a gut feeling.â
Some of the worldâs best goalkeepers have been known as âpenalty specialistsâ and you often see, especially in a penalty shootout that goalkeepers do a lot of research on the penalty takers.
McLaughlin told burtonalbionfc.co.uk that having a set side in your mind isnât good as you may have a different gut feeling on the day.
âI donât think it is good to have a set way in your mind where you are going to go in case you have a different feeling on the day.
âThese past two I havenât had much on them I just went with my gut feeling and luckily it has paid off.
âIt is always a 50/50 anyway so at least this time it has paid off.â
