COMMUNITY TRUST SUBMIT FUNDING APPLICATION TO AVIVA

28 May 2015

Earlier this month, Burton Albion Community Trust submitted an application to Aviva Community Fund to expand their Walking Football provision.

Walking Football is one of the latest crazes in the football world. It is an activity that gives those that have given up the chance to get back into the sport they love or try something new. Vote for the Golden Goal project and Burton Albion Community Trust could be starting a session near you.

The Aviva Community Fund will finance over 362 entries across four different fund levels and four categories, spreading awards to communities throughout the UK. Voting is open from the 1st to the 30th May and when people register they have 10 votes they can place on the project of their choice.

Burton Albion Community Trust’s goal is to Inspire, Engage & Educate the community and really make a difference to individuals and the community. As a registered charity the trust relies on funding, sponsorship, grants and donations. This money enables us to start up new programs and sustain existing ones, meaning that we are able to keep delivering in the community and making a difference.

We’re encouraging as many Fans, Friends, clubs and partners to give us your vote and help us beat the competition to top spot in the race to secure the Aviva Community Fund which will help create new opportunities for the older generation in East Staffordshire. The £25,000 fund would support the trust to hire local venues and send in staff to coach, support and run walking football sessions in the local community for local people.

Health and Inclusion Manager John Widdowson said, ““This is a fantastic opportunity for our local community to show support for not only our charity but for an exciting impacting programme which will engage with a vast number of people across East Staffordshire, we hope that everyone really gets behind this and starts voting" ”
