BINNOM-WILLIAMS GIVES US THE LOWDOWN ON SOUTHEND UNITED

2 October 2015

JEROME Binnom-Williams, a young player on loan from Crystal Palace looking to better himself as a player and have a successful footballing career.

He joined the Albion on loan this summer after spending some time at Saturday’s opponents Southend United last season.

The utility man admits that his time at Southend United was good, although he wished he had got a few more games under his belt.

“It was good.” Said Jerome.

“It was my first proper league loan.

“I had a good time there and got a few games under my belt with 22 appearances.

“The players and manager is good down there.”

Binnom-Williams was only playing under 21s football at his parent club Crystal Palace before making his loan move to Southend United to gain some men’s football for the first time in his career.

“I learnt a lot of things like men’s football.

“Under 21s football is different at palace to league two football which is more head it and kick it and you get stuck in more, that is what brought out the man side in me.

“I learnt a lot there really.”

Phil Brown has been in charge for the Shrimpers for a couple of seasons now and has narrowly missed out in the play-offs a few times, once against the Brewers which Phil Brown seemed so confident he would win in his programme notes.

Binnom-Williams told the Matchday Brewer that working with Phil Brown was good for him and he is pleased that all of the players took him under their wing.

“The manager and the setup there is really good.

“Phil Brown is an ex-premier league manager so it was good to work with him.

“The boys warmed me very well when I first got there as I was only young so yeah I enjoyed it.”

The last couple of months of his loan spell wasn’t filled with game time for the young defender which is why he is relishing the chance to see his former club what he has got in his locker.

“I want to show them what I have got because the last couple of months there wasn’t a good time for me as I didn’t get that much game time so I need to show them what they are missing really.”
