FLEETWOOD MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM NEWS

16 October 2015

Fleetwood Town vs Burton Albion
Saturday 17th October 2015
Sky Bet League One
3PM KO

The Brewers go in to Saturday’s game sitting second in the table after last week’s top of the table clash against Walsall in which the Brewers fell to just their second league defeat of the season. Matty Palmer could make his 100th Burton Albion appearance this weekend, at the young age of just 20.

The two sides have met seven times, including one play off final which Albion fans would rather forget.

Both teams have won three times each with the points being shared on just one occasion when the game ended 1-1 in 2013.

BURTON ALBION 0-1 FLEETWOOD TOWN
FLEETWOOD TOWN 0-4 BURTON ALBION
FLEETWOOD TOWN 2-3 BURTON ALBION
FLEETWOOD TOWN 1-1 BURTON ALBION
BURTON ALBION 1-0 FLEETWOOD TOWN
BURTON ALBION 2-4 FLEETWOOD TOWN
BURTON ALBION 0-1 FLEETWOOD TOWN

DARIUS CHARLES will definitely miss the fixture through injury as he nears a full recovery from a broken leg although he has recently started training with the team.

ZELI ISMAIL returned to the bench and made a shot appearance against Walsall so he will be in contention for a few more minutes although he is expected to start on the bench again.

CALLUM REILLY is still recovering from a slight groin injury but like Darius Charles, he has started to train with the team again this week.

NASSER EL KHAYATI has been training all week so he will be fit for Saturday. Don’t be surprised if he returns to the starting XI.

AURELIEN JOACHIM picked up a slight knock whilst on international duty with Luxembourg but he should be fit and available for selection on Saturday.

MATTY PALMER could make his 100th Burton Albion appearance this weekend, at the young age of just 20.

The Brewers could be changed by two or three bodies at the weekend. Calum Butcher is walking a tightrope on four bookings so he could be rested for Tom Naylor. El Khayati could return to the frame. If Matty Palmer makes an appearance for the Albion this weekend, it will be his 100th for the club.

Antoni Sarcevic

Vice-captain Antoni Sarcevic signed for Fleetwood Town in July of 2013 from Chester City.

Sarcevic’s debut season was one to remember for Fleetwood fans, as he scored the solitary goal in the Play-Off final against Burton Albion which promoted the Cod Army to League One.

The Mancunian started out in the youth team at boyhood club Manchester City, before signing for non-league side Woodley Sports.
Antoni scored 15 goals and was named in the League Two PFA Team of the Year in his first season.

Last term, he appeared 40 times in League One for Graham Alexander’s side, scoring twice for the Cod Army.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink:

“Fleetwood are a team who are changing their style a little bit.

“That’s what we concentrate on.

“Can we keep our own identity and our own way of playing?”

“What I will say to the players (on Wembley) is that it’s in the past, it has gone, it’s not important.

“It’s three points at stake and those are the three points we are trying to win.”

Nasser El Khayati:

“I heard from the boys that we lost the play off final two years ago against Fleetwood so it is going to be a tough game and hopefully a bit of revenge for us.

“I really don’t know how they are going to play, we have some tactics.

“The boys like Robbie Weir remember it well and it wasn’t a nice day for them but we are now in League One towards the top and they are towards the bottom, football is strange.”

@burtonalbionfc looking forward to it, the only away ground with away terracing. Nice to face @FTFC in League One so quickly after Wembley

@adamBAFCdrew@burtonalbionfc@ftfc Hopefully Burton will exact some revenge.

@burtonalbionfc Think it'll be a harder game than the table suggests as SP will've had a whole week with @ftfc, but I'll go 2-1 Burton!
