GAFFER KEEPS FOCUS ON TODAY'S GAME

3 October 2015

Brewers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he was “flattered” by interest from a Championship club but is committed to Burton Albion.

Hasselbaink took over from Gary Rowett at the Pirelli Stadium last November and guided the club to the League 2 title. This season the Brewers have risen to the top of League One after winning seven of the opening ten games of the season.

Burton Albion chairman Ben Robinson confirmed that there had been an approach from a Championship club but that Hasselbaink wanted to continue his work at the Pirelli Stadium.

The chairman said: “It has been a tremendously successful year for Burton Albion and whenever that happens at a club there will always be interest in the manager. But Jimmy remains focussed on the coming games and the tremendous job he is doing at Burton Albion.”

Hasselbaink said: “I am flattered by the interest but this is not the right opportunity for me at the present time. I’m Burton Albion manager and want to continue the work we are doing here.”
