GAFFER SAYS WALSALL WILL POSE A DIFFERENT CHALLENGE FOR ADAPTABLE BREWERS

7 October 2015

BURTON ALBION travel to Walsall on Saturday for a top of the table clash that will present the Brewers with a new challenge, says the Gaffer.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s team are one place and three points above Walsall who have surprised some people with their early season form.

The Gaffer says: “They have done exceptionally well. They have a team that presses forward. They have pace and their work rate is good. They are well organised, know what they are doing and are quick on the break.

“We have to set up in a slightly different way and make life difficult for them.

“I am a big believer that you cannot go through the season just playing one way, especially not in England. In England you have a lot of different types of teams with different set ups and formations, different beliefs and you have to adapt to it and show respect for your opponents.

“You have to cope with different types of problems if you want to be successful. We have done that well so far.”

Hasselbaink also believes that the depth and quality of his squad will keep coming into play as the season progresses.

"I want competition for places, you need that as it will be a long season and you can’t just play with 11. The bench is very, very important and we need competition.”

He also urged the fans to play their part at Walsall.

He said: “We hope the supporters will come out in large numbers like they did at Chesterfield. It’s very important. The players do notice and do appreciate it.”
