SHANE CANSDELL-SHERRIFF "I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A CHANCE NOW"

28 October 2015

Shane Cansdell-Sherriff was missing from the Burton Albion team that faced Chesterfield, Sheffield United, Southend United, Walsall and Fleetwood Town.

Shane fell ill just before the Chesterfield fixture which left a gap at the back making way for Anthony O’Connor who put in a fine display that day. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink kept the same back four for the following game who continued to impress.

The great performances by Hasselbaink’s men kept the experienced Cansdell-Sherriff out of the team but their recent dip in form before Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Port Vale meant a re-call for the Australian.

“It was frustrating for me not to play.” Said Shane Cansdell-Sherriff.

“It was my fault, I fell ill and I come back when the team was doing well.

“The gaffer has kept the same team which is fair enough.”

Two clean sheets in the past two games has done nothing but cement Shane’s position in back four but he admitted being on the sidelines is frustrating but the experienced head knows that it is all part and parcel of the wonderful game.

“It is frustrating as a player when you miss out because of certain things but that is part of football.

“I have been given a chance now to come back in and we have kept two clean sheets in two games."
