BREWERS BOSS INSISTS THE GOOD RUN OF FORM IS DUE TO A TEAM EFFORT

22 September 2015

THE Brewers are flying high at the top of Sky Bet League One, a position nobody thought they would be in at the start of the season.

Ever since Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink took the reins last November, he has picked up a win percentage of 68%!

Another win on Saturday against a strong Swindon Town side meant the Brewers leapfrogged Walsall and Gillingham to hit the top spot.

“It is extremely satisfying but there are several things coming with it.

“It is a team effort but it is very rewarding. We now have to forget about it and move on to the next one.”

League One is unfamiliar territory for some of the Albion players but Hasselbaink insists that they are all enjoying the different challenges they are facing in the higher leagues.

“The players are being challenged in a different way. I think they appreciate it more because it is a different level. They need to be switched on and be thinking.

“Whatever player you are, you always want to play at the highest level you can.

“It is a step up for the players and the staff and you are going to be tested.

“It is only the supporters that are thinking it is easy, it isn’t. You have to really put the work in and have the composure and we have that.”

It was Stuart Beavon that popped up with the winner in the 28th minute to score his third of the season to become Albion’s joint top goalscorer in league one.

Hasselbaink has praised the striker in previous weeks and he wasn’t going to stop this week.

“Stuart was sharp. You know what he is about, he does a lot of work without the ball and he is very good.”
