BURTON ALBION YOUTH TEAM TO FACE CHESTERFIELD TODAY

11 September 2015

Burton Albion's youth team are set to face Chesterfield for the fourth game of the Youth Alliance U18 North East League.

The Brewers have enjoyed a strong start to the league, winning all three of their opening games against Grimsby (3-0), Oldham (0-1) and Notts County (2-0).

There have been some pleasing performances with progression shown in the young lads desire to not only show their ability on the ball but being able to defend well.

Chesterfield finished third last season and Mark Smith has always worked on developing youngsters. This promises to be a great game of football with both managers wanting their youngsters to perform at the highest level.

Academy manager Mike Whitlow said that he still expects the team to keep up the levels of performance as individuals and as a team that they have shown from the start of pre-season and also in the opening fixtures of the season.

"With Lee Glover now adding his experience with the young players, they will surely benefit not only in games but with him also developing them on the training ground.” He said.

“The players have worked hard all week and had an amazing experience against a very very strong Bradford reserve team and this made them aware of the levels that they are trying to achieve.”

The game will be played at Stavely Miners Welfare, just east of Chesterfield, at 11:00 this morning.
