BURTON Albion manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been nominated for Sky Bet League 1 manager of the month for August.

The Dutchman was nominated several times for the same accolade during the 2014/15 season but failed to win it.

The nomination comes off the back of four wins and just one defeat in his first five games of Burton Albion’s first ever season in Sky Bet League 1.

Hasselbaink’s men also put in a solid performance to beat Championship side Bolton Wanderers in the first round of the Capital One Cup at the Macron Stadium but were unlucky to lose in the second round against Middlesbrough at the Pirelli Stadium.

The three other nominations are:

Nigel Adkins (Sheffield United)
Shrugged off an opening day 4-0 defeat at Gillingham to lead his new team to four straight wins thereafter – all by a two-goal margin. His unique brand of positivity has enthused players and supporters alike at Bramall Lane.

Justin Edinburgh (Gillingham)
Made light of a difficult-looking August fixture list to steer his side to an unbeaten start with a haul of 11 points from five games. A 4-0 victory over Sheffield United set the tone, while Bradford City and Wigan Athletic were also beaten.

Dean Smith (Walsall)
Walsall are at the top of League 1 for the first time in a decade with Smith’s brand of attacking football as easy on the eye as it is effective, garnering 13 points from a possible 15 in August. The highlight was a 4-0 win at Blackpool.

The winner will be announced on Friday 4th September, 6AM.
