INJURY UPDATE

16 September 2015

Despite having a great start the season, Burton Albion are still missing a few members of their squad.

JON McLAUGHLIN

Goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin is the latest player to fall victim of injury but Hasselbaink is confident of having him fit for the weekend.

“Jon should be OK for the weekend.

“It was uncomfortable for him. He couldn’t play on.

“He didn’t train on Monday. Yesterday (Tuesday) he had a light training session.

“Today we progressed it more. We will treat him again tomorrow and by Friday he will be back to speed.”

ZELI ISMAIL

Zeli Ismail has been out since pre-season where he collided with the post in a home friendly fixture with Leicester City and has struggled to recover ever since.

“The Zeli situation is a little bit frustrating.” Said Hasselbaink.

“He is very uncomfortable in the knee where there is fluid.

“We have to be careful with him whilst talking to Wolves because he is their player.

“We have to do the right thing for Zeli but at the moment he isn’t fit.”

DARIUS CHARLES

Darius Charles was signed from Stevenage in the summer whilst recovering from a broken leg. He has been on the road to recovery since his arrival at the Pirelli Stadium and Hasselbaink is
pleased with the progress that the utility man is making.

“Darius has started running. Yesterday (Tuesday) he did his first passing drill with the group.

“He is progressing well and very quickly. He is just starting his own pre-season.

“We don’t want to throw him in. We want to build him up and make him strong.

“The physios are happy with his progress so far.”

There has been some question as to how long it will take for the defender come striker to recovery but the Brewers boss still isn’t keen on putting a timeframe on the injury.

“We aren’t putting a time frame on it as we don’t want to put him under pressure.

“We are working him hard but it has to be done the right way.

“We want him to have minimum setbacks.”
