ON THE WHISTLE MATCH REPORT

26 September 2015

The Brewers made two changes from the team that beat Swindon on Saturday.

In came El Khayati and O'Connor for Binnom-Williams and Cansdell-Sherriff.

GOAL: Not long after the whistle had been blown to start the game, it had been blown again for a Spireites goal. Gardner whipped a corner in, McLaughlin was in no mans land and Hird headed a tame effort home.

It was an action packed game from the off as the Brewers charged down the other end with El Khayati the ball carrier, he tricked his way past Talbot but he shot was cleared off the line by Evatt after Lee was left rooted to the spot.

There is no doubt that the Albion should have been level after 11 minutes. Butcher poked a ball through the home defence which Akins latched onto, all alone through on goal but he dragged his shot wide.

The game settled down midway through the half but it was the Brewers that kept popping up with the chances. Some great running by Beavon created the opportunity for El Khayati from 12 yards but his shot was blocked before Akins swung a left foot at the ball but again was denied by the Spireites defence.

It was a cracking end to the half as a succession of Albion corners created shots on target but they couldn't find the back of the net.

HT: Chesterfield 1-0 Burton Albion.

No changes for either side at the break.

GOAL: Straigt from the restart, the Brewers attacked the home side an equalised instantly! Duffy carried the ball down the right hand side before crossing into the box but Beavon missed it, Nasser turned and shot towards goal was blocked by Beavon who squoze it into the goal at the near post!

Moments later, Duffy drilled a ball along the ground into the box, Akins charged onto it and rattled the crossbar with his left foot! So nearly a winner..

It was a much brighter second half for the Brewers who really didn't give the home side time to settle down.

Butcher was brought down on the edge of the box by Morsy, a free kick in which ex-Spireite Duffy fancied. He lined it up but his curling shot clipped the side netting.

The Spireites really wanted to win the game brining on Simons and Gnandulliet to add to their attack whilst the Brewers remained unchanged.

Binnom-Williams was thrown on to win the game for the Brewers on 85 minutes to replace the energetic Duffy.

It was the home side that finished the half brightly as Gandulliet created a few opportunities but none that his side could convert.

GOAL: A frantic end to the game! Binnom-Williams through on goal and he made no mistake in putting the Brewers ahead in the 94th minute!
