BREWERS GOALKEEPER STILL CONFIDENT OF SECURING MAIN PRIZE

18 April 2016

BURTON Albion goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin has said him and the team are still confident of securing the main prize of promotion this season.

The Brewers take on Wigan Athletic at the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow night in a top-of-the-table clash and there will be no hungrier team than Burton Albion.

“We are still very confident in ourselves and the position we are in,” said McLaughlin.

“Wigan were unbeaten in 20 games or something like that and have not long overtaken us so it does show just how fantastically we have done.”

Colchester, Gillingham and Doncaster are the teams Burton still have to play between now and the end of the season and the Albion stopper is looking to put a run together in order to cross the line.

“We have got some fixtures coming up where we can go and put our own little burst in now to see it through.

“I think a lot of people look at the results alone and often when you’re winning games people don’t bother too much about the performance.

“You might play worse and win but there are three points on the board then you might have a busy game, do well then nick a goal and everyone will say great.

“Games like Oldham at home when you look back on it and reflect on it all of the key chances in the game fell out way but we just didn’t find the back of the net like we usually do.

“Normally we would nick one of them over the line, win the game and go home happy.”
