BURTON Albion’s Mark Duffy is delighted to have been nominated for March's Sky Bet League One player of the month award.
Goals against Fleetwood and Port Vale helped him earn the awards nod.Duffy says: “I’m really pleased with that. It’s more about the team but it's nice to have that recognition for the hard work I have been doing and obviously the goals help.
“It was a good month for the club overall but a bit frustrating at the end we couldn’t get the wins we wanted."
Albion boss Nigel Clough said: “He’s deserved it. He has put in some very good performances and scored some very good goals in that time.
“We have been talking to him this week about the spectacular goals he does score and we have been telling him that we would like him to get a few scrappy goals as well. The ones he’s scored at the moment have been very good ones, he’s one of our main creative players players but when Lucas Akins is coming in from the other flank we would like to see him getting in the six yard box himself.”
Duffy adds: “It doesn’t matter whether it’s a really nice goal or an ugly one – they all count. I’d swap a nice goal for two ugly ones any day of the week. The Gaffer has told me to get in the box more. That’s something for me to work on.”
