15 April 2016

BURTON Albion manager Nigel Clough and chairman Ben Robinson have officially opened a new sports facility in Branston.

They joined members of Branston Parish Council and East Staffordshire Borough Council at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new multi sports all-weather area at the Clays Lane park.

Ben Robinson said: “It was a pleasure to open this much-needed facility alongside our first team manager Nigel Clough.

"Congratulations to Branston Parish Council for securing the funding and I'm sure it will now be a big benefit for the people of the local community.

"At Burton Albion we know how important it is to have community facilities like this in order to help people, especially children, stay active and healthy. Our community trust works tirelessy encouraging people to take part in a wide range of health and fitness activities which is why we are so delighted to open this sports facility.”

The games area has been funded by Veolia Environmental, ESBC and Branston Parish Council and is adjacent to the sports pavilion.

To mark the opening, Burton Albion Community Trust organised sporting activities with the help of youngsters from Rykneld Primary School.
