NIGEL CLOUGH ANTICIPATING A GOOD GAME WITH LOTS TO PLAY FOR AGAINST BARNSLEY

15 April 2016

BURTON Albion take on playoff-chasing Barnsley at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday and the Brewers manager Nigel Clough is expecting a “good game” with lots to play for.

He said: “They are in with a shout of making the play offs so they will see this game as one they’ve got to get something from.

“I think it’s a good game for us both at this stage, there is lots to play for.

“If you think not so long back Barnsley were in higher leagues so you look at the size of club they are and that’s what we’re contending with.

“It should be a good game.”

Barnsley had a turbulent start to the season, especially during October where they lost six out of their seven games but have picked up form towards the latter stages of the League One season.

“They had a very poor start to the season but after about ten or 12 games they really hit form and I would say in the past 25 games they are as good as anybody in the league,” said Clough.

“They have certainly got a lot of quality in their line-up.

Sam Winnall has been earmarked as Barnsley’s main danger man, he’s already on 20 goals for the season.

Clough commented: “The lads know him because he was on loan here a few years ago.

“He’s a lively striker with good movement in and around the penalty area but we will deal with him like we have done with all of the other threats they have.”
