BRISTOL CITY PREVIEW

12 August 2016

BRISTOL City will be the first ever Championship club to visit the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow.

City are managed by Lee Johnson, who as a player played under Brewers manager Nigel Clough when both were at Derby County.

Johnson’s side have started the season well by winning their first two games against Wigan Athletic on the opening day and beating League Two side Wycombe Wanderers in the EFL Cup.

Johnson told Bcfc.co.uk: “I was at the game against Bury, they’ve recruited well and brought in key experience to their side, we expect a high-tempo match.

“I have so much time for Nigel, I am delighted he has got them into the Championship.”

18-year-old Forward Tammy Abraham who is on loan from Chelsea has scored two in two for his new side and is sure to cause a threat to the Albion defence alongside Jonathan Kodjia who scored 18 Championship goals last season.

Brewers manager Nigel Clough hopes to have a fully fit squad available for the visit of Bristol City, Jackson Irvine is back in contention after sitting out the Nottingham Forest game through suspension:

“Lee Williamson and Ben Turner sat out the Bury game as they have had a few niggles but we are hopeful they will be ok. Chris O’Grady and John Mousinho were both rested tonight, so they’ll be refreshed.”

Clough also spoke about the need to get early points on the board in the next two home fixtures: “The next two home games are against very difficult opposition, we’re glad to be scoring goals. We now have six in two games, so hopefully we can take that into these home games and get some important points on the board.”
