LATE GOALS ARE BECOMING A HABIT FOR NAYLOR

22 August 2016

TOM Naylor scored late again to secure a point at Blackburn for the Brewers but said his team deserved more.

Speaking after the 2-2 draw at Ewood Park, Naylor said: "It's always nice to get the goals, especially the way we have started the season. The only disappointment is that we didn't get the win."

Naylor's last four goals have been in the 88th minute or later and the Brewers are making a habit of scoring late in games this season.

He said: "We are scoring late goals but haven't been getting the three points we wanted. We need to rectify that and make sure when we are scoring late that we are winning games comfortably."

It was a set piece that led to the Albion No 15's headed equaliser on Saturday.

He said: "With Matty Palmer's delivery, when he puts them in there like that then anyone can score, luckily it was me and we got another point.

"Matty has always had that ability and if we get on the end of them it's up to us to get them on target and score.

"Overall, I thought we deserved the win against Blackburn but when you are away from home and 2-1 down you will take the point."

Naylor also hit the bar with a pile-driver from 35 yards.

He said: "It opened up for me and I just thought I would let rip. I thought it might have hit the bar and gone down into the net like their goal did but it smashed into the bar and went out of play.

"You get more time on the ball in the Championship so you can pick passes out and we are creating more chances."

Naylor's thoughts now turn to the EFL Cup against Liverpool.

He said: "I was a Liverpool fan when I was younger so it's always nice to draw your team. It's the team I used to support and watch so it has always been a team I have looked out for in the cup."
