MOUSINHO SAYS SIDE READY TO GO

4 August 2016

BREWERS skipper John Mousinho believes his side are ready to go ahead of the Sky Bet Championship season which gets underway on Saturday against Nottingham Forest.

“Pre-season has been good, been quite busy with training days. Lots of double sessions at the beginning, to blow the cobwebs away. Its also been about the game time, we’ve played a fair few and had some good positive results and overall its been productive.

“Every game is a massive game, most of them are all big clubs. Forest will be coming into it it knowing they need a win.”

Going into his third season at the club, Mousinho knows the importance of a good start to any campaign:

“Getting off to a good start is very important, the last two seasons I have been here we have had good starts.

“It builds your confidence and you go into the games with more belief. On Saturday, we will approach it wholeheartedly but that’s the same with every game.

“We’ve not been scared of going to big games, we have done well not to play the stadiums or the clubs history. We have to go into games believing we belong in the league and I am sure we will do just that.

“Everyone knows on one day one team can beat another, we go into each game as equals in 11 men against 11. We just have to see them as another game.”

Mousinho also praised the new signings that the club have brought in bringing much needed Championship experience to the side:

“I mean obviously we have signed some great players with league experience, last season our squad had pretty much none minus Tom Naylor who had played there for Derby.

“It was important in our recruitment to add the experience and mix it with youth as well as Jackson Irvine who looks a good player from Scotland. The new lads have integrated well and they fit in well to the squad.

“Kyle and Ben will help us massively as well as myself, both have played Championship and in Ben’s case the Premiership too.

“They’ll be able to share bits of info on players we play against as well as what its like visiting certain grounds.

“If you go into the league with a squad full of no experience, you go into it with all the enthusiasm but a bit blind so its pleasing now the squad has a really nice blend to it. We hope it can be quite potent.”
