DEFENDER Shaun Barker has joined Burton Albion on a free transfer. The 33-year-old has been registered in time to play in today's game against Derby County at the Pirelli Stadium.
The former-Derby County man has been training with the Brewers for a few weeks now after injuring his knee some four years ago.
He will link up with the Brewers under Nigel Clough after previously playing under him at Derby.
Nigel Clough said: "We want him to contribute on the pitch but he's got a lot more to offer off the pitch.
"He wants to get out and play and I'm sure there'll be plenty of times this season where with five or 10 minutes to go, we need someone to come on and head the ball in our box. I can't think of anyone better than him."
Shaun Barker said: "If it doesn’t happen now I will have to put my hands up and walk away.
"I don’t like being defeated and I hope this year that I get back out there – whether it’s for one minute or 40 games.
"I will be content just getting out on the pitch for a first team."
