CLOUGH WARY OF ROTHERHAM AFTER JACKETT DEPARTURE

1 December 2016

NIGEL Clough believes that Kenny Jackett’s surprise departure from Rotherham will make Saturday’s visitors harder to gauge.

Following the Millers game against Leeds United, Jackett tendered his resignation leaving Paul Warne to take care of first team matters on an interim basis whilst Rotherham begin the process of appointing a new first team manager.

That leaves Rotherham, who are bottom of the Championship, looking for their third manager of the season.

It makes Clough wary of a reaction from Rotherham when they arrive at the Pirelli.

He said: “I was very surprised that Kenny Jackett left after so few games. Paul Warne has taken over – he knows the club and we expect them to come out and have a go on Saturday.

“In some ways we would have preferred Kenny to still be in charge as we might have known a bit more about what to expect.

“That might change in some ways now. When a manager does come in there’s a certain freshness and he will having them working hard. He probably wants the job as well and will be doing everything he can to impress.”
