NIGEL CLOUGH'S ROTHERHAM REACTION

29 December 2016

NIGEL Clough reacts to Burton Albion's 2-1 win against Rotherham United at the ASSEAL New York Stadium.

The Albion boss was delighted with the win although he thought his team had played better in defeat against Newcastle and Aston Villa.

He said: "We were fortunate at times with balls going across the face of our goal but we scored two great goals ourselves and lost one of our best players in John Brayford at half-time and saw it through in the second half.

"It was important to get that first away win - the last game of the year as well so we start the new year in good heart. It gets that off your back and we now have a home game to look forward to on Monday.

"We had a little bit of luck tonight but we got the blocks in, the headers and Jon McLaughlin's handling was superb in difficult conditions.

"Chris O'Grady has got his first goal as well - scrambling in a rebound. The second one is a brilliant goal. A great cross from John Brayford and Jackson arriving just at the right time."
