NIGEL Clough hopes striker Chris O’Grady will quickly add to his first goal of the Championship season.
O’Grady scored for the first time since pre-season by bagging the first in the 2-1 win at Rotherham.
Clough said: “Hopefully that will give Chris confidence for the rest of the season. But he typifies the team as he keeps working hard and playing for the team.
“It’s the first one that has dropped for him in that position – he has to keep getting in there, perhaps a bit more than he does, but we are delighted for him that he’s got that goal.”
Albion also recorded a first away victory of the campaign.
Clough said: “It was an important win but ironically from our worst performance for some weeks. We didn’t play anywhere near as well as in recent games but that sums up the nature of football and especially the Championship.
“The players couldn’t have given any more and we can’t fault the effort levels - it’s the standard of the performance that can go up and down as it does with any team. The overall effort and commitment was there in abundance.”
