WARD LOOKING FORWARD TO VILLA

24 December 2016

BREWERS forward Jamie Ward is looking forward to playing Aston Villa for numerous reasons on Monday afternoon.

Ward, Birmingham born came through Aston Villa’s academy and is a huge Villa fan but says there won’t be no time for sentiment when he crosses the white line.

“It will be nice to play there as I have never played in a competitive fixture there before, my family will enjoy the game too but the most important thing is that I do my all for Burton to win. Once you get out there, you focus on doing your all to win and not the occasion as such.

“I don’t have a point to prove to them, they gave me a great base to learn my football. I had some great coaches and some ruthless ones so it’ll be nice to see them. If I do score of course I will celebrate, I celebrate all of my goals because scoring gives you the best feeling in the world.

Ward wants to improve on his recent form and has been frustrated since returning from injury after breaking his wrist in the Barnsley game last month: “I felt I was in good form till the injury and since I’ve had the injury I feel like I’ve lost a bit of sharpness. I am fine with the cast now and have disappointed with my form since.”
