BREWERS AND SHREWSBURY RESERVES FINISH LEVEL

16 February 2016

A BURTON Albion reserve side travelled to Shrewsbury this afternoon to take on Shrews reserves in the Final Third Development League.

Elliot Grandin headed the home side in front after 20 minutes but his goal was cancelled out through academy star Marcus Dinanga on 37 minutes.

Both teams went into the break level at 1-1 despite Shrewsbury enjoying more of the possession with goalkeeper Sam Hornby making a few smart saves.

The hosts fielded a strong side with first-teamers Grandin, Vassell, and Demetriou all starting.

Darius Charles started the game and played 45 minutes before being replaced by Tom Hammerton. Darius played the 45 minutes with no pain and felt good when he came off. Reserve manager Neill Hornby said: "The plan with Darius is to play him longer each time he plays. He looked good on the pitch and felt good when he came off."

Timmy Thiele was replced by another academy player, Dylan Garnett whilst Ferguson made way for Joe Hunt.

Brewers XI: Hornby, Harness, Shelton, Flanagan, Charles, Smith, Hallahan, Fox, Thiele, Dinanga, Ferguson.

Brewers subs: Walker, Garnett, Hunt, Hammerton, S'Barra.
