BREWERS PLAYERS HELP PUPILS WITH READING SKILLS

4 February 2016

BURTON Albion footballers have dropped into a Burton primary school to check out the youngsters’ reading skills.

First teamers Nasser El Khayati and Anthony O’Connor paid a visit to Horninglow Primary School to meet staff and pupils.

The youngsters chose a favourite book to read to the players and also asked them questions about playing for Burton Albion. The players then signed the pupils’ reading books and posed for pictures.

Nasser, on his last community visit before departing for QPR, said: “It was a pleasure to hear the children read. We know how important literacy skills are, whatever career you go into, and we were very impressed with the pupils’ reading.”

Mrs Gower, from Horninglow Primary School, said: “It was very exciting for the pupils to meet the Burton Albion players and it gave them a chance to demonstrate their reading skills, which are very important for all children.”
