CLOUGH HAS HIS FINGERS CROSSED OVER BUTCHER AND BENNETT INJURIES

24 February 2016

BURTON Albion were hit with a double injury on Monday night as midfielder Calum Butcher and wide-man Mason Bennett were both taken off in the second half.

Calum Butcher struggled with a calf injury whilst Mason Bennett pulled up with a tight hamstring.

Despite both of the injuries being muscle related, Manager Nigel Clough is hoping both players will be fit for Saturday’s game against Walsall.

Nigel Clough said: “He (Calum Butcher) has cramp in his calf, that’s why he came off.

“Mason had a tight hamstring but I hope they will both be OK for Saturday.”

With players such as Jerome Binnom-Williams, Zeli Ismail and Nasser El Khayati all departing the Pirelli Stadium in January, the squad has been trimmed by Nigel Clough but the Brewers boss insists they aren’t desperate to sign any loan players to bolster the squad.

“We will see how the lads are,” he said.

“We still have a  couple of players on the bench who can come on.

“We aren’t too desperate, as long as the lads recover in time for Saturday.”
