HOME ADVANTAGE AGAINST PROMOTION RIVALS COULD BE VITAL, SAYS CLOUGH

27 February 2016

NIGEL Clough is hoping that playing three of the Brewers promotion challengers at the Pirelli will give his team the edge.

Albion take on Walsall today and face two more crucial games against promotion challengers at the Pirelli.

Clough said: “You look at the remaining fixtures and we have Walsall, Wigan and Gillingham to come and those three will go a long way to determining how we will finish - having them all at home is important.”

Albion’s current form has seen them bounce back from each setback and Clough is hoping for a similar reaction to Monday’s defeat at Southend.

“As much as we don’t like losing games, the points are better when you win two and lose one than when you draw all three. Confidence might be better when you stay unbeaten but it’s all about the points total now."

Clough has no fears about his team not being ready for today’s game.

He says: “The team has turned out against pretty much everybody this season and over the last couple of seasons - that’s why we have amassed so many points. It will be about reminding them what they have done that has made them so successful.

“It’s amazing that players even at the top level need reminding some times. You only have to look at Manchester City in the Champions League the other night and they were a different side to what they have been in recent weeks and sometimes it takes a gentle nudge to remind players that they are good and this is what they have done well and just to go out and do it again.”
