ON THE WHISTLE MATCH REPORT

27 February 2016

Just one change for Burton to the team that lost 3-1 to Southend. In came Lucas Akins for the injured Mark Duffy whilst new signing Hamza Choudhury featured on the bench in Duffy's place.

It was a cagey opening to the game with both teams looking to keep the ball but the first real chance fell to the Brewers through the Derby County loanee Mason Bennett. He was picked out down the left by Calum Butcher before advancing towards goal only to be denied by a last-ditch tackle from Demetriou.

The away side went straight down the other end and had a go at the Brewers. Bradshaw knocked the ball down well for Sawyers who shot at McLaughlin's ball only to be denied by the Albion stopper.

Burton had to rely on their goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin again later on as Downing fired a snap-shot towards goal from the edge of the box which was heading for the roof of the net but for McLaughlin's fingertips.

That was about as much action that we got in the first half.

HT: Burton Albion 0-0 Walsall

Both teams emerged unchanged after the break.

Stuart Beavon worked a great opening down the left after he wriggled past a couple of defenders before letting fly but his effort rippled the side netting!

It was a cagey second half, even more so than the first half. Hamza Choudhury made his professional debut on 78 minutes as he replacet Tom Naylor in the middle of the park.

Lucas Akins was presented with a great chance ten minutes from time as McCrory swung a ball in from the left of which the winger got his head on by it was only directed downwards in to the hands of Etheridge.

Marcus Harness was given the additional time to try and grab a winner but the final whistle went..0-0 at the Pirelli.
