SHANE CANSDELL-SHERRIFF SHOULD BE FIT FOR SOUTHEND TRIP

18 February 2016

SHANE Cansdell-Sherriff has been an important figure in the Burton Albion back line this season, being part of the back-four that have conceded the least goals in Sky Bet League One.

He was taken off with 15 minutes to go in the last home match against Chesterfield with an ongoing groin injury, he was replaced by Tom Flanagan.

Manager Nigel Clough is confident the Australian will be fit for Monday’s trip to Southend United.

Nigel Clough said: “He was scanned on Monday and hopefully it isn’t too bad.

“We’re encouraged that he might be available for Monday night.

“I think it’s the other side which is unusual, it’s always been on his left but I think it’s his right side now but we will see how it is.

“It helps having the extra two days without a doubt so we will give him every chance.

“We’re OK as we’ve got Tom Flanagan who can step in as well who did very well when he came on for 15 minutes (against Chesterfield).”
