BURTON Albion Community Trust will be the first employer in the town to sign up for a new scheme aimed at boosting organ donation.
BACT will be first in line to sign an understanding with the Organ Donation Committee at the Queen’s Hospital in Burton, spearheading an initiative which will help save lives and spread awareness.

The Organ Donation Committee, as part of its role of encouraging people to sign up on the Organ Donor Register, is urging families to talk about organ donation and is keen to sign understandings with as many major employers in the area as possible.

The understanding provided for the employer aims to encourage all existing employees who have not already done so to sign up to the Organ Donor Register as part of the induction process of new staff; to encourage and to promote organ donation to customers and suppliers and to appoint an Organ Donation Champion to actively support the understanding.

The Organ Donation Committee, for its part, agrees to support the employer in whatever way possible to achieve the understanding and will designate a contact person with whom the employer can liaise.
