CALUM BUTCHER ENJOYING HIS NEW FORWARD ROLE

18 January 2016

BURTON Albion ended a home unbeaten record to the third team this season in Coventry City as goals from Calum Butcher and Stuart Beavon wrapped up the three points for the Brewers.

What a big three points it has proven to be. Burton now sit top of the league, two points clear of second place with a game in hand.

Calum Butcher said: “Yes we’re obviously delighted with the three points and the all-round performance.

“I think in the first half we didn’t start too well but the second half we got into it and we did really well, scored the two goals and got the three points.”

He added: “Coventry are a good side and have got some good individuals.

“It was a tough game, we knew it would be a tough game and we knew we would have to stay in the game as long as we could and try to score late on and keep it tight like we do.”

Butcher has scored three goals since the arrival of Nigel Clough and seems to be playing in a more advanced position.

“The gaffer is always telling me to get into the box more, to break into the box and that is definitely part of my game now and something I’ve been doing more,” said Butcher.

“I’m getting into the box and playing further forward and I’m really enjoying it.

“I am delighted to get three goals recently too.”
