CANSDELL-SHERRIFF LOOKS FORWARD TO FACING FORMER CLUB

22 January 2016

SHREWSBURY Town are the next team to face Burton Albion in Sky Bet League One as they visit the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday.

A man that knows Shrewsbury Town better than anyone is ex-Shrews centre half Shane Cansdell-Sherriff. The Australian was at Greenhous Meadow for four years racking up 150 appearances and nine goals along the way.

He said: “It’s one of those cliché games but the mentality of this team, we want to win.

“We work hard to win and dominate and go about our game the way we do – that is stopping them from playing.

“If we can stop them from playing and put our game on to them it will make it hard for them to get anything.

“Whether we’re at Coventry or at home, it’s another game that we want to win.”

Shrewsbury have struggled to adapt to League One life since promotion last season. They currently occupy the final play-off spot with 26 points and a -14 goal difference.

“It’s hard to say, they’re on a tightrope at the moment,” said Cansdell-Sherriff.

He added: “It’s one of those where they could come out and perform but it will be tough for them because they have had results go against them at the moment.

“They’ve tried things they have got a new squad and new players have come in, some have left and they’re trying to find the right balance.

“They have got a good squad overall and good management but it’s just getting the right balance on the day.

“They could go a goal up and really feed off that or they could go a goal down and really fall apart so it’s a tight rope for them.

“They are going to be good and they are going to come and win the game.”
