NIGEL Clough says that January will be a big month for the Brewers, starting with a visit to Coventry tomorrow.

The Brewers also visit Peterborough and Rochdale and face Shrewsbury at the Pirelli.

Clough says: “Coventry are possibly the best team in the league when you look at the depth in the squad. They have some experience on the bench and some exciting players.

“Adam Armstrong has to be the loan signing of the season when you consider he was on the fringes of the Newcastle first team and has dropped down a couple of leagues. That shows the size of the club and the allure of Coventry. They have Joe Cole there as well.

“It is a big month for us with three out of four away from home.”

The Brewers will be missing the suspended Robbie Weir at Coventry but Clough is happy with the midfield cover he has in the squad.

He says: “Midfield is an area where we are strong squad wise. We have had plenty of midfielders on the bench recently with the likes of Calum Butcher - and Anthony O’Connor can play there as well. So we have enough to deal with Robbie being out.

“Matty Palmer is different to the other midfielders who are high energy. Matty gets on the ball and plays a bit more and it’s been difficult to fit him into the team. We had a chat with him and once Robbie’s back from suspension, we will try and get him some games.”
