CLOUGH WARY OF A ROCHDALE REACTION

28 January 2016

NIGEL Clough is wary of a Rochdale side who will be hurting after losing 6-1 at Barnsley.

The Albion boss said: “We are always wary when you play a team that has lost 6-1 away from home. It wasn’t a 6-1 by all accounts but they will still be hurting and you would expect a reaction from them – especially with them being at home.”

Rochdale have surprised a lot of teams this season, including promotion-chasing Walsall - who they beat 3-0.

Clough says: “I don’t think there is any team in the League more likely to beat you 5-0 or lose to you 5-0 than Rochdale. They are capable of either on the day.

“When it clicks for them they are as dangerous as any time in the League. But they are susceptible when they have an off day to concede goals.

“After the Barnsley result I would expect them to want to get back to the basics and try and keep a clean sheet. The way they play they will say they want a clean sheet and to score three or four as well.

“It will be interesting to see how they approach it. We have noticed when we go away that teams are a little bit cautious because of our abilities on the break.”
